The Coolest Nurseries All Share This in Common

There are nurseries that are beautiful.
And then there are nurseries that are cool.
You know the difference.
One looks exactly like a nursery is supposed to look. The crib, the glider, the rug, the little bookshelf. Everything soft and sweet and appropriately baby-sized. Maybe there’s a theme. Maybe there are three coordinating prints hanging above the crib.
It’s lovely.
And then you see that nursery.
The one you immediately save even though you are not pregnant, do not have a baby and, depending on your current stage of life, may never have any practical reason to decorate a nursery again.
It doesn't necessarily have more expensive furniture. It isn't bigger. It hasn't been designed within an inch of its life.
It just has something the others don't.
Actually, some things.
There's an odd little wooden chair tucked into a corner. A painting that clearly wasn't purchased from the children's section. A dresser that doesn't match the crib. Maybe an old lamp. A slightly worn rug. Something sculptural sitting on the floor that you can't quite tell is a toy or an object.
Nothing is trying particularly hard to be adorable.
And somehow the whole room feels warmer. More interesting. More like it belongs in an actual home rather than on the third floor of a baby store.
So what's the difference?
It's the vintage.
There it is.
The coolest nurseries are almost always borrowing something from another time.
And once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere.
